A Day Privacy Policy
The short version. A Day keeps your snaps on your iPhone and deletes them after 24 hours. There are no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. We don't collect your data, and the app has no server of ours to send it to.
What A Day stores, and where
When you take a photo or video, A Day saves it, a small preview image, and some details (capture time, expiry time, and your location and place name if you allowed location) inside the app's own storage on your iPhone. The A Day Lock Screen widget reads this same on-device storage to show your snaps and countdowns. A Day does not upload your snaps to us or to any third party.
Automatic deletion
Every snap expires 24 hours after you take it. Expired snaps and their files are deleted when you open the app and by iOS background refresh, so deletion may not happen at the exact second of expiry. You can also delete any snap yourself at any time. A Day holds up to 24 active snaps at once.
Permissions and why
- Camera: to take photos and videos. Required for the app to work.
- Microphone: to record sound when you capture videos.
- Location (while using the app only): optional. If allowed, A Day tags each snap with where it was taken. The coordinates are stored with the snap and written into the file's metadata (photo EXIF or video location data).
- Photos (add only): used only when you choose Save to Photos. A Day can add items to your library but does not read your photo library.
You can change any permission at any time in iOS Settings → A Day. A Day still works without location and without photo access.
Place names (Apple's services)
To show a place name such as a street or neighborhood, A Day sends the snap's coordinates to Apple's geocoding service (Core Location), which returns the place name. This happens when you capture a snap with location turned on. We don't see or receive these coordinates. Apple handles them under Apple's Privacy Policy. If you don't want this, turn off Location for A Day in iOS Settings.
Copies that A Day can't auto-delete
- If you use Save to Photos, the copy in your Photos library is yours and is not deleted by A Day.
- If you share a snap through the iOS share sheet, the app or person you share it with receives their own copy, which A Day can't delete.
- Your iPhone's device backups (iCloud Backup or a computer backup) may include A Day's on-device data while it exists. A Day itself does not sync to iCloud. Backups are controlled by your iOS settings.
No accounts, no tracking
A Day has no sign-in, no ads, no third-party SDKs, no analytics and no crash-reporting tools. We don't track you across apps or websites.
Contacting us
If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you write, and we use it only to reply. Email is handled by your mail provider and ours.
Children
A Day has no accounts and doesn't collect personal information from anyone, including children.
How to delete your data
Delete a snap inside A Day, or delete the A Day app to remove all of its on-device data. Copies you saved to Photos or shared must be deleted separately.
Changes to this policy
If A Day's data practices change, we'll update this page and the effective date. Please check back occasionally.

What changed since the November 20, 2025 version
- Rewritten to describe what the app actually does. Removed website-style items such as IP address, browser, pages visited and device identifiers.
- Removed statements that data may be uploaded to servers, and the account, purchase, marketing, affiliate, business partner and service provider language. A Day has none of these.
- Added the 24-hour auto-delete, the microphone, Save to Photos, place-name lookup through Apple, the widget, and what happens to copies you save or share.
- Replaced the outdated contact link with an email address.
